Recruitment SEO consultant for UK agencies

Most recruitment agencies compete for candidates against Indeed, Reed and TotalJobs — and lose. Then they compete for clients against every other agency in their city, and lose there too. I fix both sides: the candidate funnel and the client funnel, as two different search problems with two different answers.

Why recruitment SEO is its own discipline

A generalist will run the same checklist on your site that they run on a plumber’s. Recruitment has three structural problems that checklist never touches.

Expired jobs wreck your index

Every filled vacancy becomes a dead page. Most agencies leave thousands of them live or delete them with no redirect, so Google crawls a site that is mostly soft 404s. Your genuinely important pages get crawled less often as a result. This is the single most common technical problem I find in recruitment, and it is invisible in any standard audit.

Your ATS is often uncrawlable

Bullhorn, Vincere, JobAdder and the rest frequently render job listings through JavaScript on a subdomain, with no server-rendered HTML and no JobPosting schema. Google cannot index what it cannot read, so your vacancies never reach Google for Jobs — where candidates increasingly start.

Two audiences, one website

A candidate searching “warehouse jobs Luton” and an HR director searching “logistics recruitment agency Bedfordshire” want completely different pages. Most agency sites serve both the same generic content, so neither converts. The fix is a deliberate split, not more content.

The work

What I actually do for recruitment agencies

  • Audit and fix how your ATS exposes vacancies to Google
  • Implement JobPosting schema so roles qualify for Google for Jobs
  • Set an expiry and redirect policy for filled vacancies
  • Build the sector × location page matrix that wins client searches
  • Separate the candidate funnel from the client funnel
  • Earn links from industry press, local business media and partner sites
  • Optimise your Google Business Profile for each office
  • Report on applications and client enquiries, not keyword positions
How it runs

Month one looks like this

Week 1 — Audit. I crawl your site and your ATS, map what Google can and cannot see, and benchmark you against the three agencies outranking you.

Week 2 — Roadmap. You get a prioritised plan with effort against impact, and a walkthrough call. It is yours to keep whether or not we continue.

Weeks 3–4 — Fixes. Technical issues first, because content on a broken site is wasted money. Then the first landing pages go live.

Month 2 onward. Content, links and conversion work, with a monthly report on enquiries and applications.

Questions recruitment agencies ask me

Can you get our jobs into Google for Jobs?

Usually, yes — provided your vacancies can be server-rendered or exposed as crawlable HTML with valid JobPosting schema. If your ATS blocks that entirely, I will tell you in week one rather than bill you for six months of trying.

We already pay for job boards. Why bother with SEO?

Because job boards rent you candidates and stop the moment you stop paying. Organic visibility is an asset you own, and it is the only channel where a client searching for an agency can find you without you bidding for the click.

How long before we see results?

Technical fixes can show inside four to eight weeks. Competitive sector and location rankings realistically take six to nine months. Anyone promising faster in recruitment is either guessing or lying.

Do you work with agencies outside the UK?

Yes. I am based in Luton and most of my clients are UK agencies, but recruitment SEO travels well — the structural problems are the same in Dublin, Toronto or Dubai. I invoice in GBP, USD or EUR.

What does it cost?

Audit and roadmap is £950 as a one-off. Ongoing work for agencies competing nationally starts at £1,500 a month. Full detail is on the pricing page.

Let me look at your site first

Twenty minutes, no pitch deck. I will crawl your site before we speak and tell you the three things costing you the most applications and enquiries — and whether I am the right person to fix them.
